In recent years, the evangelization activities of our Texcoco community have grown and take place both within the territory entrusted to us as a parish and in neighboring areas and remote areas of the country.

Missions in rural areas

As missionaries, we are committed to proclaiming the Gospel not only in the outskirts of the capital, where we offer our service as a community, but also in rural areas where mainly indigenous people live. Priests in these areas have many communities under their care and find it difficult to meet the pastoral needs of the people entrusted to them.

Thus, regularly and at different times of the year, with a few dozen lay people, we go to the poorest and most remote areas to carry out our missionary service where people do not have the possibility of having the stable presence of a priest and thus allow them to nourish their faith.

During these missions, we divide ourselves into small groups, devoting ourselves to different activities: catechetical meetings, spiritual retreats, communal prayer of praise and the rosary; daily celebration of the Mass; visit to the sick and their families.

The missions are preceded, during the year, by the creation of evangelizer training workshops. The training covers the themes of spirituality, liturgy, Bible, and sacraments. In this way, the lay people grow in their preparation and self-confidence.

Kerygmatic retreats in suburban parishes

They are a response to requests from priests for formation of the laity in their parish. To meet these requests, we have developed a series of weekend retreats that explore different aspects of the faith journey, including:

  • Kerigma Retreat 1 and 2: the experience of God changes life;
  • “Dabar” Course on the Word of God;
  • “Seven Youth of the Gospel” Experience on the relationship of young people with Jesus;
  • “Maria” Course on the presence of the Virgin Mary in the life of Jesus’ disciples;
  • and other courses from the St. Andrew School of Evangelization.

Community and Missionary Animation Weeks

We offer to the priests to animate the activities of their parish for a week, in order to raise awareness of the responsibility of every faithful and Christian community towards the evangelization of the whole world.

During our presence, we meet with various pastoral groups of all age categories. The laity associated with our community also collaborate in these activities as associate members. They join us on the weekends. During these weekends, we propose:

– meetings with groups and associations present in the parish
– meetings with children and youth who attend catechism classes
– listening centers in the families of the parish who offer their homes, inviting their friends and neighbors
– the animation of liturgical moments
– a missionary prayer vigil and other prayer moments adapted to the context
– solidarity initiatives
– visits to the sick and their families.

National Missionary Congresses

We collaborate with the Pontifical Mission Societies of Mexico (OMPE) in the preparation of the National Missionary Congresses for children (CONIAM), youth (CONAJUM), and adults (CONAMI).

University pastoral ministry

We assist the Diocese of Texcoco in organizing liturgical and sacramental celebrations for the youth of the Autonomous University of Chapingo, who come from different states of the country. We are also involved in vocational animation activities in various dioceses in collaboration with the Pontifical Mission Societies of Mexico (PMS).
