Who Are the Missionary Women?
Missionary women are consecrated individuals who have generously responded to God’s call, choosing to dedicate their lives to the ad gentes mission (to all peoples). By living out the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience — along with a fourth specific vow unique to our community — they bear witness to God’s unconditional love in the world.
Together, they form a community of sisters who, through their presence and actions, enrich the Missionary Community of Villaregia. Their commitment is expressed through various forms of life and service, reflecting the richness of feminine gifts and sensitivities.
A Variety of Vocations Within the Branch
The Missionary Women Branch is characterised by a diversity of vocations and ways of living, allowing each sister to embrace her consecration authentically and faithfully according to her personal calling.
Missionaries Living in Community
Some missionary women choose to live in community, sharing their daily lives with their sisters in a spirit of deep fraternity. They dedicate their time to communal prayer, ongoing formation, and apostolic activities, serving the Church and the mission alongside other branches according to their unique gifts and talents.
Missionaries in the World
Other missionary women live out their vocation within society, engaging in work, education, or social action. They bring the light of the Gospel to their respective environments, witnessing to God’s love through their presence and actions. Although they do not live in community, they remain deeply connected to the Missionary Community through prayer and participation in its mission, taking on essential roles that contribute to the growth of the Community and the spread of the Gospel.
Mercy and Contemplation
Within the branch of missionaries living in community, some are called to specific forms of service that respond to the Church’s and the world’s particular needs.
Missionaries of Mercy
Driven by deep compassion for human suffering, missionaries of mercy devote themselves to the most vulnerable: the poor, the sick, and the marginalised. They serve in contexts of great need, sharing the lives of the people they assist. Through their solidarity and concrete actions, they bring support and hope, becoming a tangible sign of God’s mercy.
Contemplative Missionaries
Some missionary women feel a special call to a contemplative life, dedicating their existence to prayer, adoration, and intercession for the mission. They carry the world in their hearts, praying for peace, justice, and the spread of the Gospel. Their lives and ministry are a source of grace for the entire Community, supporting missionary efforts through an intense spiritual presence.

A Synergy in Service of the Gospel
The diversity of vocations within the Missionary Women Branch creates a dynamic that enriches the vitality of the Missionary Community of Villaregia. Each missionary, with her personality, talents, and unique way of responding to God’s call, contributes to the common mission of spreading the Gospel to all peoples.
This complementarity fosters deep communion, where each sister supports and encourages the others, sharing both joys and challenges. Together, they witness that unity in diversity is possible, offering the world a model of authentic fraternity and solidarity.
