The Missionary Community of Villaregia is a multivocational community where people of diverse callings come together to live and proclaim the joy of the Gospel. Discover here the identity and richness of the branch of male missionaries, with its many unique facets.
Who are the Male Missionaries?
They are both clergy and laypeople who have joyfully responded to God’s call. They dedicate themselves through evangelical counsels and place their lives at the service of the ad gentes mission (to the nations).
Clergy and consecrated laypeople form a single branch, working together in harmony and complementing one another through the diversity of their callings.
- Missionary Clergy bring the richness of priestly ministry and the sacraments to the community, having received the Sacrament of Holy Orders as part of their vocation.
- Consecrated Lay Missionaries contribute uniquely through their daily commitment, enriching the mission with their identity and service.
This complementarity between clergy and laypeople greatly enhances our community, fostering a synergy that makes both our fraternity and the proclamation of the Gospel even more profound.
Many Paths, One Reality
The beauty of this missionary branch also lies in the variety of ways in which individuals can live their vocation. Here are the different approaches that make this branch so dynamic and inspiring
- Missionaries of Common Life: For those who deeply desire to share every aspect of life with other brothers, the missionaries of common life offer an intense experience of fraternity. They live together, sharing prayer, work, and mission, dedicating themselves full-time to ad gentes evangelisation, spreading the message of the Gospel’s hope worldwide. Their communal life is a luminous sign of unity and fraternal love.
- Missionaries in the World: For those who wish to witness their faith within their everyday environments, missionaries in the world embody this reality. They live out their consecration in the social contexts where they operate, working and interacting as living signs of communion and mission. Although they do not live in a community setting, they are integral members of our family, contributing to spreading Gospel values throughout society.

Mercy and Contemplation
Among the missionaries of common life, some embrace their vocation as missionaries of mercy or missionaries of contemplative life.
- Missionaries of Mercy: For those with a sensitive heart towards the suffering of others, missionaries of mercy represent a special way of living the mission. They dedicate themselves primarily to the poorest and most afflicted, sharing with them a simple and fraternal life. Through concrete acts of solidarity and closeness, they bring comfort and hope to those in greatest need, becoming a tangible reflection of God’s merciful love.
- Missionaries of Contemplative Life: For those drawn deeply to prayer as a form of evangelisation, the missionaries of contemplative life offer a response to this divine calling. They devote their lives to intercession and contemplation, bearing witness to the primacy of God through constant prayer. Their silent presence is an invisible force that sustains the entire community and nourishes the mission with spiritual vitality.
A Mosaic of Gifts in Service of the Mission
The richness of the branch of missionaries lies precisely in the harmonious diversity of its members. Clergy and laypeople, missionaries of common life, in the world, of mercy, and contemplatives all work together in a synergy that makes our mission vibrant and dynamic. Each person, with their talents and sensitivities, contributes to creating a mosaic of gifts that makes the proclamation of the Gospel shine even brighter.
